How to Finish Like You Started

First of all… Happy New Year everyone and everything! I have such high hopes and high expectations for this upcoming year. I know its said every year but I really feel like it is my season to be rewarded to be loved to be admired to be challenged and to be fearless. It is often said that you never know how strong you are until you see how strong you’ve been. I hold that to be true for so many reasons. Last year 2017 was a very challenging year for me I was faced with many life altering decisions and events and if I am honest with myself I did not overcome them like I should have. I have no one to blame but myself and I have no one to make it up to but myself. I let a lot of negative emotions towards myself get in the way of being great.

For example Blogging. I love to write and I have found blogging to be very therapeutic. However I let negative thoughts stop me from doing what I love constantly looking at other people’s blog and comparing mine to theirs  and getting discouraged because I don’t have the type of pictures they have or the right back ground and whenever I notice myself feeling that way I would hide in a shell until I felt like it was safe to come out. I would do the same for Instagram and Facebook as well, come to think of it I did that in many areas of my life I would see something that was better than what I had and it would prevent me from moving forward because I didn’t believe that what I had to present would be good enough which resulted in my lack of participation in social media and my lack of interest in the world.

I titled this post How to Finish Like You Started because I want to remind myself and others of this very feeling that I have right now. Anyone who has ever started a new job or a new business, or started going to school knows the feeling I’m talking about it’s that feeling that motivates you to finish. It’s that feeling you get when you get a new car or your first apartment or a new house. Its that feeling no one can take from you because it comes from within. Its that fresh start feeling. This is a New Year and a new opportunity to reinvent, recreate and refresh. I no longer have to worry about what happened last year because that time has passed and there is nothing I can do about it but move forward. I feel like I can do anything I want I believe I can accomplish what has not been accomplished before I know I am strong beautiful and creative. I also understand things happen that are out of my control and the best way to show that I understand is to keep pressing forward.  In 2017 I experienced 2 tragic and traumatic deaths first my father in law in June and just 5 months later in November my biological father both of which helped me realized I have to live life for today because tomorrow may never come and before I say goodbye to this earth I wish to say Hello to Life.

So here are some tips to help you Finish How You Started

  1. Set a Goal visualize it and chase after it
  2. Be fearless determined and unstoppable
  3. Never let what someone else has or does stop you from being/doing what you set out to be.

I also at times compare my journey to others especially where blogging is concerned but i have come to realize that my style is different, i am different and i am unique. I stopped comparing myself. 2. Hey! Thanks for sharing this! I love the list that you have at the end. All of those are great ideas. I have the hardest time trying not to compare myself to others, but that always sabotages me in the end. But it’s my life. If I want to get something done, I just have to do it and not let anything stop me. I’m sorry to hear about your loss, I hope that things are going better for you now! Take care!
